Daily records for your pub or restaurant, kept on your phone
Luna Checks helps you keep records. Staff tick opening and closing lists, log fridge temperatures and cleaning, and note incidents. Managers see what is late or out of range, sign the day off, and print a PDF for an inspector.
Luna Checks is being planned and has not launched. Nothing here is available to buy yet.
Why it matters
Paper sheets go missing, get filled in after the fact, or sit in a drawer when someone asks to see them. Small venues need records that are quick to keep and easy to find.
Quick at the point of use
Most checks happen in a cellar, a kitchen or behind the bar. Luna Checks is built around the phone, with large tap targets.
Problems are visible
Late checks and out-of-range readings are flagged for the manager, with a note on what was done about them.
Ready when asked
Produce a PDF for any date range instead of hunting through folders.
Not legal advice. Luna Checks helps you keep records. It does not say that a venue is compliant, and it files nothing with any authority. Your obligations depend on your venue and your local authority; check them with the relevant authority or an adviser.
Planned features
The first version is planned to include the following. Plans can change before launch.
Lists and schedules
Opening, closing, temperature and cleaning checks, with a "today" screen for staff.
Readings
Fridges, freezers, cooking and hot hold. Out-of-range readings are flagged, ask for a corrective-action note, and can carry a photo.
Cleaning and sign-off
Cleaning logs, closing lists, run completion, an overdue view and a manager day sign-off.
Incident book
Incidents, accidents and refusals. Staff can add entries but cannot read them back; managers can.
Inspection PDF
A printable PDF for any date range. Status is shown in words, so it reads correctly in black and white.
Renewals calendar
Track licence, fire, gas and similar due dates, with an optional owner-only reminder e-mail and owner-set retention periods.
Records are append-only: a correction is added as a new entry that points at the old one, so the history stays intact. Not in the first version: allergen matrix and labels, wireless probes, training records, and offline entry.
How it works
Set up your lists
A manager builds the opening, closing, temperature and cleaning lists and sets when each is due.
Staff tick and log on a phone
Staff open today's checks, tick items and enter readings. A reading outside its limit asks for a note on what was done.
Managers review and sign off
See what is late or out of range, then sign the day off.
Print when you need it
Choose a date range and download a PDF.
Who it's for
Owners and managers of small venues
Small pubs and restaurants that want daily records without extra admin.
Three roles
- Owner: everything, plus settings such as retention and reminders.
- Manager: builds lists, signs off the day, reads the incident book, requests reports.
- Staff: sees today's checks, records readings and ticks, logs incidents.
Luna Checks is planned as part of the same family of tools as Luna Rota, alongside Luna Tips and Luna Pulse.
Questions
Is Luna Checks available now?
No. It is in the planning stage and has not launched. You can register interest below.
How much will it cost?
Pricing has not been decided.
Does it make my venue compliant?
No. Luna Checks helps you keep records. It is not legal advice, and it does not tell you that a venue is compliant. It never files anything with an authority.
Does it work without a signal?
Not in the first version. Offline entry is not planned for launch; an unsent draft is kept on the phone.
Can I change or delete a record?
Results and log entries are not edited in place. A correction is a new entry pointing at the old one. Owners set how long records are kept.
Do I need Luna Rota?
That has not been decided yet.
